Air Transat Captain Robert Piché and First Officer Dirk Dejager received their awards for achieving the longest glide of an airliner on Air Transat Flight 236 after running out of fuel. Northwest Airlines The crew of Northwest Airlines Flight 85 received the Superior Airmanship award for their skill at landing a Boeing 747 with a hardover rudder.
